Trusting God: Reflections on Jeremiah 17

June 25, 2025 12 min read

Today, I want to share something special with you. Let's look at an important part of the Bible - the Book of Jeremiah, chapter 17.

I want to talk about the book of Jeremiah, the, seventeenth, chapter.

This chapter holds deep wisdom about trust in God. As we explore it together, we'll find lessons that can help us in our daily lives. The words in Jeremiah 17 speak right to our hearts about faith, trust, and God's love for us.

Let's begin this journey through Jeremiah's powerful message and see what God wants to tell us today.

Blessed is the One Who Trusts in God

Let's look at verse 7 of Jeremiah 17. Here, God gives us a beautiful promise:

Blessed is the man who puts his trust in me and whose confidence is in me.

God uses a lovely picture to show us what happens when we trust Him. He says we become like a tree planted by water. This tree grows strong because its roots reach deep into the stream.

When we trust God, amazing things happen. We stay strong, just like that tree. Our "leaves" - the good things in our life - keep growing and stay green. Even when hard times come, like a drought, we don't need to worry. We keep growing and bearing fruit.

Think of it like this: A tree by water never has to worry about getting thirsty. In the same way, when we put our trust in God, He takes care of us. We can stay calm even when things get tough.

God promises that when we trust Him fully, we'll be blessed. Just like that tree stands tall and strong by the water, we can stand firm when our confidence is in God.

The Human Heart and Divine Justice

The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate. Who can know it? I, god, am searching the heart, examining the innermost thoughts to give to each one according to his ways, according to the of his works.

Like a partridge that gathers what is not laid, so is the one who acquires riches dishonestly.

God uses a clear picture to show us what happens when people try to get rich through dishonest ways. He compares them to a bird that takes eggs it didn't lay. Just like that bird's efforts are empty, people who get money dishonestly will lose it all. They end up looking foolish.

Our sanctuary is God's glorious throne. It has been there from the start. But those who turn away from God will face shame. Their names will be written in dust because they left the source of living water - God himself.

There's hope, though. We can always turn to God and say, "Heal me, God, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved." When we do this, we show that God is the one we praise.

This teaches us that God sees right into our hearts. He knows our deepest thoughts. He gives to each person based on how they live and what they do. We can't hide anything from Him.

God as the Source of Hope and Healing

Let's focus on what happens when we put our trust in God. Here's something beautiful to remember:

God is love. And when we put our trust in him completely, he do not let us down.

When we face hard times, God is our hope. Right now, people all over the world are going through tough times. Every country faces its own troubles and problems. But there's good news - we don't have to face these times alone.

God wants to be our guide through all of this. When we trust Him fully, He shows us the way forward. He leads us step by step through whatever we face.

Heal me, oh god, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved, for you are the object of my praise.

This is what makes God our true sanctuary. When the world seems scary or uncertain, He remains steady and sure. He's ready to direct our paths and lead us to safety.

Remember, no matter what's happening around us, God stays faithful. He's not just watching from far away - He's right here, ready to help when we turn to Him.

As times, are getting, more treacherous for all of us, the people around the globe... put our trust in God, and he will direct us and lead us accordingly.

Life today brings many challenges. All around the world, people face tough times. But there's something important we need to know about how God works in our lives.

When we do things, our actions matter. If we don't follow God's way, what we do comes back to us. Think of it like this: if you treat others badly, that same bad treatment will find its way back to you. There's no escaping this truth.

Some people think those who do wrong get away with it. But that's not true. Everything we do gets counted. God keeps track of it all. This includes:

  • Our actions
  • Our thoughts
  • The work of our hands

God looks at what's in our hearts. But here's something key to understand: thoughts come first. They enter our hearts and then become the rules we live by. That's why God pays close attention to our thoughts.

When times get hard, we have a choice. We can either follow God's way or go our own way. But remember - everything we do has results. That's why putting our trust in God matters so much. He guides us to do what's right, even when times are tough.

The Cycle of Thoughts, Actions, and Accountability

For every thought, he's going to have taken it to account from our hearts because it's only from our thoughts that things enter our heart for us to start obeying it as if it's our go to, as if it's, our ruler.

Our hearts lead the way in how we act. Think about when you fall in love with someone. You listen to what they say. You want to follow their lead. This goes on until you see that where they're taking you doesn't match up with where you want to go.

It all starts with our thoughts. The things we think about shape what enters our hearts. Once something gets into our heart, we start to follow it. It becomes like a ruler over us.

That's why we need to watch our thoughts carefully. They're the first step in a cycle:

  • Thoughts enter our mind
  • They move into our heart
  • Our heart leads our actions
  • Our actions shape our life

We must be mindful of our thoughts and desires. They have more power than we might think. What starts as a simple thought can grow into something that guides our whole life.

Safeguarding the Heart and Practicing Caution

Safeguard your heart. Safeguard your heart. Like, safeguard it because out of it is your sources of life, and that's written in the book of Proverbs.

The Bible tells us something very important in the book of Proverbs - we must guard our hearts. This isn't just good advice - it's key to living well because our heart shapes everything we do.

We need to be careful in all our relationships. Yes, even with our own family members at home. Why? Because Satan can try to influence any of us at any time to do things his way instead of God's way.

It's very important that as you see someone that's not doing things accordingly that's going to bring calamity, within your home, that you take a stand and let them know take a stand in righteousness and let them know that that is not good, but also to practice your loving kindness and grace and giving them room so that they can grow because that is God's way.

When we see someone doing things that could bring trouble, we need to:

  • Take a stand for what's right
  • Speak up with love
  • Show them a better way

But here's the key - we must balance truth with kindness. While we stand firm for what's right, we also need to:

  • Show grace
  • Be patient
  • Give people room to grow

This is God's way. He shows us both truth and love, and He wants us to do the same with others.

God's Patience, Free Will, and Redemption

God's way is gentle with us. He knows we need time to learn and grow.

When you need to learn something, he gives you that time. He gives you that space.

God understands that Satan will try to make us fall. But here's the good news - God is always ready to help us up. When we slip, He holds out His hand. He wants to pull us out of the pit Satan dug for us.

The best path is to trust God from now until He makes all things new.

If we trust in him or we put our confidence in him, he sees that, and he will not let you down.

Here's something important to remember about God's care for us:

You may not get everything that you want, but who's to say what you want is actually good for you? But you will get all the things that you need, and I know this for a fact.

Think about it this way:

  • We might want three or four fancy cars
  • We might want thirty pairs of pants
  • But God knows what we truly need

God promises to give us what we need, not just what we want. And sometimes, He adds extra blessings too. That's how He shows His love for us.

Remember, God's way isn't harsh. He gives us time to learn. He helps us up when we fall. And He makes sure we have everything we truly need.

Living by God's Word: Joy, Calamity, and Purpose

Once you start following father and listening, to his words, they are the best fruit that you out here.

When we follow God and listen to His words, we find the best guidance for our lives. His words are like sweet fruit that feeds our soul. God stays with us through every situation we face.

Think about it - God is there for us in two ways:

  • He keeps our joy going when things are good
  • He helps us out when we face hard times

After God helps us through tough times, we can be happy again. That's His amazing way of working in our lives.

It's not about us coming to slay. It's not about us coming. None of the true prophets have did these things. The Lord didn't come to slay.

As believers, we have a clear purpose. We're here to help others, not to hurt them. Look at the true prophets - they didn't come to destroy. Even Jesus didn't come to harm people. Instead, He came to:

  • Show us what Satan is doing
  • Warn us about wrong paths
  • Teach us about past mistakes, like what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah

Our job is simple - we should follow God's example of helping and healing. When we do this, we show others what God's love looks like.

Recognizing Temptation and Exercising Free Will

In the days of Moses and Noah, Satan was busy at work. Back then, people didn't know that Satan could put thoughts in our minds. But now we know better.

Now that we know, it's time for us to recognize that he can, and then you can actually start utilizing your free will the way god wants you to.

God gave us free will for a reason. He wants us to use this freedom, even if we sometimes make wrong choices. Here's what's important to understand:

  • God lets us make our own choices
  • He gives us freedom to choose our path
  • Even if we choose to sin, the choice is ours

But there's something that really bothers God. He doesn't like when angelic beings misuse their power over us. These beings:

  • Take advantage because we can't see them
  • Plant seeds of bad thoughts in our minds
  • Keep pushing those thoughts until we follow them

Here's the good news though:

All sins that we mankind can commit can be forgiven.

God understands our struggles. He knows we face temptation. That's why He made a way for all our sins to be forgiven. When we know how Satan works, we can use our free will better. We can choose God's way, even when temptation comes.

Assurance of Salvation and Divine Support

God is gonna make sure that we have salvation. He's gonna make sure.

God has a simple but powerful plan for us. He will make sure we reach salvation. No matter where you are in life right now, no matter what you've done before, or what you might do later - God has it covered. On His great judgment day, He will make sure we make it through.

We are all standing. You have the two olive trees. You have the lord. You have the twenty four elders. You have the honorable angels. You have the true prophets, and all of us are standing to help all of mankind.

Think about all the help we have on our side:

  • The two olive trees
  • The Lord Himself
  • The twenty-four elders
  • The honorable angels
  • The true prophets

All these are working together to help everyone. This help isn't just for us today - it's for all people through time. From Adam and Eve, through all our great-grandparents, right up to our future great-grandchildren. Even when we're in our graves, this help keeps working.

Here's what's really amazing: nothing can stand against God's plan. Everything is already set up for us to be saved through Jesus Christ.

We should be thankful for this great team working for our salvation:

  • Our Father in heaven
  • The Lord
  • The two prophets
  • The twenty-four elders
  • The honorable angels

They're all working hard so we can get and keep our salvation. What a blessing to have such support!

The Role of Angels and the Power of Loving Kindness

Angels play a special role in our lives. They work hard to help us live in peace and avoid trouble.

Every time when we have a good thought and we reject it, that's our honorable angel giving us that thought.

When angels give us good thoughts, they show amazing patience. If we say no to their good ideas, they don't get angry. Instead, they keep trying, again and again. They wait until we're ready to listen.

Sometimes, after Satan has led us through hard times, we finally hear these good thoughts. When this happens, the angels don't scold us for taking so long. They just feel happy that we listened, no matter how much time it took.

We so much loving kindness that is within us that we have been trained to be this way.

This shows us something beautiful about God's way. Everyone in God's family shares this loving approach:

  • The true prophets
  • The honorable angels
  • God Himself
  • The Lord
  • All who follow Him

Once you get and you actually practice what god says practice, it's a beautiful, beautiful thing.

When we follow God's way of kindness, life becomes beautiful. It's not about forcing people or making them feel bad. It's about patient love that keeps trying to help, no matter what.

This loving way works better than being harsh. It shows us that God's path is one of kindness, not punishment. When we practice this kind of love, we find real joy in living God's way.

Practicing Generosity and Gratitude

When we follow God's way, something beautiful happens in our hearts. We become more willing to forgive. We learn to give without wanting anything back. This is how God treats us.

When he gives to us, he's not looking for anything back.

Think about God's gifts to us. He gives freely, with no strings attached. Sure, we can say thank you - but sometimes we don't even know He gave us something! We just take it and move on. But God doesn't get upset about this. He keeps giving anyway.

This shows the big difference between God and Satan:

He is not like Satan. Satan is the one that slays. He is the one that looks for all the kudos, all the thank you's, all the for the enslavement of mankind.

Satan always wants credit. He needs:

  • People to praise him
  • Everyone to thank him
  • Others to serve him

But God isn't like that at all. He gives because He loves us. He doesn't need us to bow down or praise Him for every little thing. His love is pure and free.

When we learn to give like God does, we find real joy. We stop looking for praise. We just give because it's the right thing to do. This is what true loving kindness looks like. It asks for nothing in return.

Closing Reflections and Prayer

As we come to the end of our time together, let's pause to give thanks to God.

Thank you to father, and I thank him for this scripture, especially the one, at Jeremiah seventeen seven where you say, blessed is the man who puts his trust in god and whose confidence is also in him.

This verse from Jeremiah has shown us such wonderful truth. Now, let's join in a prayer of thanks:

Father, thank you for your will and everything that you have put in place for us people.

We thank God for:

  • His perfect plan for us
  • His wisdom in helping us guard our thoughts
  • His care in teaching us His ways

What a blessed time we've had in God's Word today!

Very blessed, very blessed message, and I'm so blessed.

May these teachings stay with you and bless you. Remember, when we put our trust in God, He never lets us down. Keep your heart open to His wisdom and guidance.

Amen.
