July 29, 2025 2 min read

Introduction: The Warning of the Leaven

In the Scriptures, Jesus gives us a key warning. He speaks directly to His disciples about staying alert. His words are clear and strong.

Keep your eyes open and watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and seducers.

This vital message sets the stage for an important teaching. Jesus uses the image of leaven to show us something we need to watch for. He points to two groups we should be careful about - the Pharisees and seducers. This warning opens our eyes to the need for spiritual care in our daily walk.

The Disciples' Choice: Bread and Leaven from Heaven

The Disciples' Choice: Bread and Leaven from Heaven

When the disciples came out that day, they made a clear choice.

They did not eat the bread or the leaven from the kingdom of the heavens that day.

This moment shows us how the disciples dealt with what was offered to them. They chose not to take in what came from the kingdom of the heavens at that time. Their choice speaks to us about being careful with what we accept into our spiritual lives.

Spiritual Discernment: Avoiding Deception

Spiritual Discernment: Avoiding Deception

We must be wise about what we take in. This wisdom helps us stay safe from harm.

And the importance of that is so that we don't be misled by Satan and the bad bread or the bad food that he feeds us.

Satan tries to feed us things that can hurt our spirit. Just like bad food can make our body sick, bad spiritual food can harm our soul. We need to watch what we let into our hearts and minds.

Being alert helps us spot the difference between good and bad spiritual food. When we use wisdom, we can avoid the traps that might lead us away from truth. This kind of care keeps our spirit healthy and strong.

Seeds Within: The Battle Between Good and Evil

Seeds Within: The Battle Between Good and Evil

Inside each of us, a deep truth lives. We carry two kinds of seeds that shape who we are.

The reason why that is very important for all of us is because we have not only have God's seeds in us but we also have Satan's seeds.

This truth matters a lot. God plants good seeds in our hearts. These seeds help us grow in faith and love. But Satan also tries to plant his seeds. These are seeds of doubt and wrong choices.

Each day, we choose which seeds to feed and grow. When we stay close to God, His seeds bloom into good fruit. But if we're not careful, Satan's seeds can take root too.

This battle between good and evil seeds happens right inside us. That's why we need to be wise about what we let into our hearts. Every choice we make helps one kind of seed grow stronger.
